Mogadishu, Somalia | July 27, 2025 — The Somali Public Health Students Association (SOPHSA) proudly hosted a dynamic and inspiring Panel Discussion under the theme:
“Uniting Against Hepatitis: The Role of Public Health Practitioners in Prevention and Control.”

Held at Somali National University’s Km4 Campus, the event brought together public health professionals, academic experts, student leaders, and passionate participants to raise awareness, spark dialogue, and build solutions around the growing threat of Hepatitis in Somalia.

A Gathering of Insight and Commitment

The panel featured respected speakers from the Ministry of Health, Somali Public Health Association (SOPHA), and international institutions, who shared their perspectives on national strategies, policy gaps, community engagement, and the critical importance of data-driven approaches.

Participants discussed the barriers facing hepatitis screening and treatment in low-resource settings, as well as innovative ideas for involving youth, universities, and grassroots actors in long-term prevention efforts.

🗣️ Yakub Burhan Abdullahi, President of SOPHSA, addressed the gathering by stating:
